The time period is of no consequence, IMO. Still deprives a homegrown and regular player of a team position. No wonder we cannot do owt at international level.

So is giving the young lads trying to break into sl first teams a chance is not helping them develope at a decent standard helping the international team ?????????

Double edged sword. What you say is true on one hand but playing SL youngsters precludes up and coming youngster in the Championship team from getting valuable match practice. Therefore they could be lost to the game and therefore some future stars are missed.

Will they loan Sheffield Eagles some fans..... Bless ?

Yes but if players are precluded from playing because of some foreign imports then how are you to know the best 17? Sounds like a trick for some and a treat for others. If you continually mix and match your team will not be settled and doesn't improve. So that isn't goin g to happen. Back to the point made; some players will be lost to the game, amongst them possible future stars. However many kids you have, you can only play 17 of them in any one team in any one week. The trick is to get the best available 17 playing.

Of course going back to what OR said you have Sheffield in the SL role and the French club in the Championship role. Not good for the game.

wasn't the first link up you and Leeds?
Posted 21 November 2012 - 12:40 PM
In what way ?

In Sheffield's particular case, we are back to young players lost to the game in France.. You will on paper be better off because you can keep your non immediate first team players match fit by playing them in France. It is the young up and coming French lads that will suffer. This is the original point regarding SL and Championship teams made by OR. In your case you are the equivalent of the SL club and the French team a Championship club. The lesser light becomes a subordinate club sublect to the whims of the larger club. They therefore lose most of their independence. That is why it is not good for the game.

Winter or Summer are the local French lads missing out because of the arrangement?I think you're overlooking that the French still play in winter. Eddie Battye is there now. He's not missing any games over here.
