Dons Saddened by Death of John Sheridan

Doncaster Rugby League Club is saddened to hear of the death of their former coach John Sheridan who died earlier this week at the age of 78.

Pontefract born Sheridan played in over 300 games for Castleford Tigers between 1955 and 1966 and returned to serve as the Tigers head coach from 1972 to 1973.

He became head coach of the Dons in 1984 when the club was underperforming and still reeling from the 1980 season when Yorkshire TV made the infamous Another Bloody Sunday documentary.

The club had no money when Sheridan came to Tattersfield but still managed to put together one of the Dons best squads and went on to win an impressive 30 of the 44 games they played under him.

The club would like to offer their condolences to his family at this sad time.

His feat at Donny was impressive, turned them from a joke team into one that others feared.

RIP for a great coach.

"I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, it's only fair after last year isn't it? Look Neil, just for you, I've put my best Rovers' tie on today in the hope it'll go some way to make up for it. Oh, by the way, Jon sends his regards."

I just wish I was clever enough to have done that! ;)
