First 20/20 match on now. England 81 for 1 after 9 overs.

That Kohli has been mouthing off again. Let's hope we can wind him up good and proper when he's batting.

He needs reining in, he's getting tedious.

Good to see Ian Bell getting some runs at last.

Without wanting to wish ill on anyone, I disagree. Bell saving his neck with another relatively inconsequential knock is bad for the team. He's a beautiful stroke maker and has obviously scored lots of decent runs. But he's been molly-coddled through his entire career and too often fails when the heat is on. In strolls Root with a very composed 73 on debut. Who will be the first out of the team come next summer?

Not too sure. Commentators suggest that Root is well liked amongst the coaching and selection team, hence his promotion above Bairstow and Patel into the team for the last test. Bell has performed well against Australia in the past and this may save him when it comes to Ashes selection - Root may well be eyeing Compton's place as an opener - Compton did OK but the tracks were pretty flat so both he and Root have to prove themselves against high quality international quick bowlers on English or southern hemisphere wickets. The NZ tour will no doubt reveal more.

Yes, Root for Compton would work. Tbh Im just so exasperated with Bell. He's very lucky to still be there

Spectacular batting today from Lumb, Hales, Morgan and Buttler. Bowling was a bit dodgy again though.

One last test series for SRT against Australia?

SRT or Bruce Forsyth - who will retire first?
