As I rack me brains I'll start with Metallica and Coldplay.
I think we should only include artists that have released 3+ albums.

Think both have done them. It's not as easy as I thought.

Bit of a myth really, as they've released a couple but just never called them "Greatest Hits" albums. They released the 17 track Ballbreakers album in 1995 which was essentially a greatest hits compilation, and prior to that you could argue that Who Made Who was also a greatest hits album. Also, they released the Family Jewels greatest hits DVD collection.
As for bands without a greatest hits album, I'd say Nine Inch Nails and Muse.

I was going to say Bad Mannners, then I realised they had done a compilation of their hits & I had it.

Foo Fighters?
Foo Fighters Greatest Hits was released a couple of years ago.
One that springs to mind is the biggest selling band of this century - Linkin Park - haven't released an official greatest hits album.
Arctic Monkeys haven't had a greatest hits album either.

Iron Maiden definitely have a 1980-1990 best of because I have it.S
Slipknot bought out a GH a couple of months ago called Antennas To Hell. A package like that would have gone to #1 before 2005 but yeh because of the internet I don't think it made top 10.
I think all this below is correct but it is OTTOMH:
British in bold
The Cribs (5) 2004-2012 *
Architects (5) 2006-2012
Lostprophets (5) 2000-2012
Muse (6) 1999-2012
Coldplay (5) 2000-2011
Silverstein (6) 2003-2012
Deftones (7) 1995-2012
My Morning Jacket (6) 1999-2011
Queens Of The Stone Age (5) 1998-2007
Yellowcard (
System Of A Down (5) 1998-2005
Weezer (9) 1994-2010 ***
Slayer (11) 1983? or 84? or 85?! - 2009
* Soon to change - a Singles collection out 2013.
** Though only latter 5 are 'proper'.
*** Though apparently their last 5/6ish have been ######.
Can anyone name any British bands 5+ LP's that were part of the whole Indie thing (circa 2001-2006) who have came out of it unscathed?? I can only think of The Cribs who have released 5 albums and are still going strong but there must be more.

Very few people seem to buy Greatest Hits albums anymore. I think there's always a feeling that everyone whose already a fan has got them all already.

Franz Ferdinand have released 3, with the last one being a couple of years ago? Depends what you call catergorise as indie. Keane have released 4 albums.
