What age group is the A.I.S ? The French teams age group is January to January so there's always a difference against the England team,

Yep, the other week we had 'kick Catalans out of Super League, it's been a waste of time because France haven't improved'.

Now it will be 'France have beaten Australia, now they're clearly strong enough to have their own Super League'.

The trick will be to find a way of transferring the competitiveness of the French at age limited rugby to open age. They clearly produce players of the right quality, but I guess it comes down to numbers. With the Aussie and even England u17s/18s/19s, behind every player in the team are another two or three players of similar quality waiting to take their place.

Maybe for the French, it's that they don't have the numbers, so when quality youths get injured, discover girls, or get lazy, they don't have other kids of similar ability to step in and replace them?

Maybe it's just that Catalans have only been in SL a few years and whilst they may have inspired some players to take up the game, they are not yet old enough to play open age.

France have always produced quality juniors, they just never had the resources or systems in place to take them further in their development. That has changed with the Dragons coming into Superleague. Excellent result for the French.

A massive call considering the penalty count for the game was 10 France - 7 Australia... only a 3 penalty difference, not what one would call 'being penalised out of the game'.

A great result by the French, I hope their U/17's (or U/18's - I keep seeing different ages mentioned) can follow the U/19's and secure a positive result.

Did you read "Maybe" and "may have" in the OP. The players might equally have been inspired by Avignon, Limoux, Carcasonne etc. You are just speculating.
