Why is that important?

It's not, it was meant to be a light hearted jibe about the state of Belle Vue's facilities 10 years ago

"Rugby League is rugby in the simplest form in the sense that it's about great defence, great tackling technique, good handling, good passing, catching and great kicking."

He's keeping the day job at the bank; so he hasn't been brought in to be a hands-on CEO. The ARL's choice has probably been influenced by the success that Richard Lewis had with the RFL in the UK.

He is full time from February. Apparently his $1 million plus salary is going to be a paycut from his current job.

He can't be from West Wales then. They are famously tight with money.

I wouldnt have 99% of people who are 'passionate about RL' anywhere near a job at the top of the game, they're usually the least qualified and insular.

Good luck to this guy, we could do with an outward-looking person in charge of the game over there, and the fact he isn't Australian means there is an outside chance he is aware other countries exist.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

The fact that he's a banker means that at least he knows of the existence of Jersey, the Cayman Islands and Liechtenstein. ;)

Probably more than capable, not sure why he felt the need to prattle on about uni*n though. Puts me off straight away that he thinks the 2 sports are basically the same thing.

It's not the same, but I'm afraid that view is perhaps one which shows why RL continues to struggle.

Contrast with the "warm embrace" of Union felt by Robbie Paul in The Nation article linked in the Wiggins thread. A union comp bigging up the involvement of League Stars. If we as a sport continue to isolate ourselves then the slope only goes one way.
