First game home to Workington, followed by York away.

Us at town started our season down there couple of years back and had a couple of cracking games that season . Good club Swinton , nice to start life back in the big time with you ! All the best to both of us this year !

The best thing about this fixture list is that the last 4 games have a winnable look to them.

Sunday August 11th - York (home)
Sunday August 18th - Doncaster (away)
Thursday August 22nd - Barrow (home)
Sunday September 1st - Whitehaven (away)

Could be useful if the league placings are tight at that stage.

I'd argue with that phil, id say to play them all at once must mean we are playing the best teams together, everyone still plays the same teams we just play them potential 'must win games' back to back etc probably would be better for the team if they were tough game-easier game- tough game etc

Which fool thought that a good friday game against Leigh was a good idea. i love a good away trip. would have been best to play York or a cumbrian side away.

The Easter period is traditionally for derby games as it is in theory at least a time to be spent with ones family.Think we played Leigh last season on Good Friday.

And Easter (in the days when everything was a simple "home and away" basis).

Such as Swinton 18 - 6 Salford on Boxing Day, followed by Salford 5 - 9 Swinton on Good Friday, in the Second Division Championship winning season of 1985!

Neither ground still standing. I suddenly feel old!

My greatest Easter memory was again 1963, when in 8 days we played 4 games:
Monday 8 April Warrington at home won 13 - 5
Good Friday 12 April Oldham at home won 7 - 3
Saturday 13 April St Helens at home won 9 - 8
Easter Monday 15 April St Helens away won 24 - 9...we were on our way to winning the championship, cannot believe it is 50 years coming up - hope the new shirt inspires the lads

Just finished adding the 26 rounds (sorry Blue Monkey) not to mention the Northern Rail plus Challenge Cup into my diary for my regular visits to Cornwall to keep to a minimum missing games - with possibly 30 games or so not as easy as previous seasons, but quietly working on it - really looking forward to the season, more continuity and hopefully competitive.....anyone want to buy a static home in Cornwall

In my youth our "traditional derby" games at holiday times of the season were...

Swinton v Oldham - Christmas Day (later Boxing Day) and Good Friday
Swinton v Salford - New Year's Day and Easter Saturday
Swinton v St Helens - Easter Monday

The Easter weekend had THREE games in 4 days. Imagine today's prima donnas having that on their plates eh?
