Wonder if the "ring of indifference" at Wembley will be filled for a world cup.

I'm not holding my breath.

the world cup double header ARE'NT included in the club wembley membership package.....they will probably get first option on those seats...but they will be able to be sold on if they are'nt taken up by club wembley members........which is'nt the case for the challenge cup

I doubt it very much! I was there last night for England v Brazil and there were loads of empty seats in there. If they cant be arsed for that they certainly wont be arsed for Rugby League. Sarries v Quins a different kettle of fish altogether I'm sure - tossers ;-)

I noticed that - they couldn't fill it for the national team of the #1 sport in the country versus the world's most famous international Football side. You have to wonder what would fill it.
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

It's Club Wembley seats, held by corporate types who rarely if ever, attend any events in great numbers.

its basically a wembley season ticket for major events and concerts....extra, unscheduled events, like a world cup double header are'nt included...though as i said they would likely get first option of taking up their club wembley seats...if not they would be sold on

Im so chuffed with all this positive talk and good news about the world cup.

But mmm Isnt this the same RFL that practically said last year that the Magic Weekend was close to sell out and it ended up with an average gate the same as when Cardiff held it and much closer to the heartlands?

Sellout just means that they have sold the tickets they have released for sale or distribution. So technically they were probably correct. Releasing tickets in stages is good for generating press releases because it allows for several positive press releases. It is extremely prevelent the the entertainments industry.

It holds 19,000 or so and regardless of whether 10 or 19,000 attend each game, 19,000 are counted in the attendance.

That's not strictly true.

When the Challenge Cup was a complete sellout in 2010 (Wire v Leeds) it was only 85k due to some of these being empty.

Club Wembley aside the Challenge Cup has never sold out. If you were there Dave you'd have seen the empty seats. Upper tier in the corners usually (or maybe these are where supporters just don't turn up).
Just looked at the first 3 mins on You Tube and there are plenty of red seats empty around for the 2010 final, not huge swathes. So 85.2k - meaning 4.8k short of capacity counting Club Wembley as full looks about right to me.
Not trying to de-generate the attendances but there has never been a total sell-out.

I can see what the website says Dave, but 5,000 didn't turn up?

The 5,000 less can't be Club Wembley either as there is no way it was 3/4 full, nearer to 3/4 empty unfortunately.

Maybe we sell a lot of corporate tickets to the final, that then remain unused.

I know my company was offering 2 tickets for the 2012 final on a highest bid basis that didn't get taken up. Mind you they only offered them on the Friday afternoon.

Thats not true. Are you sure you watched the right video on youtube? The 2012 final certainly matches your description - not however the 2010 one.
The RFL got hold of as many Club Wembley seats as it could to sell on. The Club Wembley area was the fullest it has been for RL.
