So we've hit the 40% sales mark for the tournament according to League Express, which means we are sitting somewhere between 200,000 and 238,000 total sales (depending on where that is 40% of their 500K target, or 40% of the 595K total available seats).

Overall it's another positive mark for the tournament, and shows momentum is growing for the event.

Just to compare it to the last two World Cups in the UK:

2000: 263,921 Attendees (Average: 8,514)

1995: 265,609 Attendees (Average: 17,707)

And 293,965 (16,331 per match) for the 2008 RLWC.

I wonder how many tickets were sold four months before the KO in 1995 & 2000.

Indeed.

In 2000 the 'showpiece' games were Twickenham, Cardiff and Old Trafford and got the three highest attendances of the tournament - 33,758, 17,612 and 44,329

This year I'd hope we'd get - 60k, 50k and 60k minimum for the three showpiece games.

95 had next to no pre-sales, all the reports after the opening game was how surprised organisers were around the crowd that rocked up on the day.  2000 there was plenty of talk saying ticket sales were strong, but never any numbers given out. At least for this tournament we are getting clearer ideas about how many tickets are being sold.

Apparently NZ are looking to play the Cook Islands as a WC warm up, possibly in Doncaster.

Now confirmed.

Rugby league's world champions, New Zealand, will be coming to Doncaster to play the Cook Islands in a warm-up game at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday 20th October (3pm kick-off), just one week before the start of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC).

Would be nice if we could get a Scotland game in Edinburgh, maybe against Fiji or somebody.

Not heard anything about Scotland playiing a warm up, but a game in Scotland would be a good idea to try and increase awareness.

Last I heard, Fiji were looking at playing Rochdale.

Had a bit of trouble earlier.

Working now though. The most frustrating thing is when it times out when you've got £200 worth of tickets in your basket and you can't remember which matches they were for!
