Mansfield also played at Alfreton Town's North Street and at Sutton Town's Lowmoor Road ground in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

I thought they had played in Ilkeston, but I can't find any reference to that - perhaps it was only a proposal.

Carlisle played at Penrith and somewhere in the borders -Hawick I think
Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

No they never played at either Ilkeston Town ground, altgough the "new" one is a great one suitable for C1 RL.

Yeah, Im not going outside mainland Britain. And I think Wigan counts more or less as heartlands. Is there a place called Kingstonian?

Kingstonian's ground - which has been pilfered by the bleeding hearts of AFC Wimbledon - is in Norbiton.
Cheer up, RL is actually rather good

If you class `A` team games as professional rugby league then VPG Goole (Hull FC `A`)
Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.

In 1982, Leigh played Carlisle at Grimsby in an exhibition match to test the potential support for RL there, and a year later a similar game was played at Nottingham Forests ground when Hull KR beat Cardiff City.

There was also a proposal to play a game between Salford and Widnes in 1986 on the artificial surface at Luton Towns ground, however, I cant find any mention that this actually took place.

For the Gateshead ones:
  • Newcastle - several times at Kingston Park (home of Newcastle Falcons)
  • Darlington - former home of Darlington FC called Darlington Arena. It was a Challenge Cup game against Oldham in 2009. For those interested, Rugby Union side Darlington Mowden Park have recently put a bid in to buy it.
  • South Shields - several games at Filtrona Park last year.
  • Jarrow - played a game at Monkton Stadium in 2004 (I think the year is correct - the game taking place there is definitely right)
  • North Shields - played 2 games at Percy Park RUFC in 2005.
Also another one for Gateshead if you're saying Britain and not just England is Edinburgh. We played at Tynecastle, home of Heart of Midlothian, where we defeated Wigan in 1999. Don't know about the Galashields one but Gateshead haven't played there..
