Yeah, Im not going outside mainland Britain. And I think Wigan counts more or less as heartlands. Is there a place called Kingstonian?

Sorry (heartlands) KINGSTON UPON THAMES Kingstonian FC once a quite large amateur club in the Isthmian League along with Dulwich Hamlet/Corinthian Casuals/Hendon/Enfield and Bromley in London.CM

Presumably that was at Kingsmeadow? Now the home of AFC Wimbledon in League Two.

Mansfield also played at Alfreton Town's North Street and at Sutton Town's Lowmoor Road ground in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

I thought they had played in Ilkeston, but I can't find any reference to that - perhaps it was only a proposal.

Carlisle played at Penrith and somewhere in the borders -Hawick I think
Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

I think you are right also Sutton United. The league provided the majority of the players for the Great Britain association football team prior to the team being disbanded, the last goal keeper was i think a Jim or John Swannell (maybe i have the christian name wrong) he played for Hendon. Many of the players in this league could easily have played for football league clubs however their backgrounds were from from the private schools so many held down good jobs in the city, one must remember that the oldest public/boarding schools in england were prior to william webb ellis and many still actually play association football as the main sport (Eton being one:)

No they never played at either Ilkeston Town ground, altgough the "new" one is a great one suitable for C1 RL.

Kingstonian's ground - which has been pilfered by the bleeding hearts of AFC Wimbledon - is in Norbiton.
Cheer up, RL is actually rather good
