In 1982, Leigh played Carlisle at Grimsby in an exhibition match to test the potential support for RL there, and a year later a similar game was played at Nottingham Forests ground when Hull KR beat Cardiff City.

If this was at Grimsby FC's ground, then it's strictly Cleethorpes rather than Grimsby.

It would've been Grimsby FCs ground as it was around the time where all manner of football teams were looking into running RL clubs as a way of making a bit of extra money. Apparently less than 1000 people turned up so they never took it any further.

cheers
Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

The Celtic Crusaders played a game at the Old Parish, Maesteg in Bridgend County Borough in their first season as well as Serbia v Italy/Lebanon v Ireland, and Wales played Lebanon in Llanelli in 2000. Scorpions have played games in Caerphilly and Hornets ,possibly Cru and others have played in Blackwood. Going back further Salford played agianst a Welsh XIII at Abertillery in the 1950s.

Mark you could add three of the grounds Oldham have played home games at, Stalybridge, Hyde and Ashton-under-lyne.
