The M.E.N. has reported that Salford are to be bailed out by their council to the tune of 750k and another 750k from Peel holdings, bringing their total debt to the council of 2.25m. Or there or there abouts.

Ridiculous amounts of money.
It's only a matter of time before the game goes belly up.
Clubs can't sustain the massive outlays against their relatively small incomes.

is there anything to learn or benefit from being a "partner" with a club thats millions in debt??

like i've said before...we should have signed a basic loan agreement and took 4 or 5 of their kids every year...and left it at that...

How do you know we haven't? I for one have no idea what this agreement actually is.

the official statement was pretty clear its not a basic loan agreement..

The Oldham chairman said the partnership — the latest of many similar agreements involving other clubs — was a “hugely positive” move for Roughyeds.
He added: “It will provide us with new opportunities, and not only in terms of players.

“Equally importantly, we will be able to tap into, and benefit from, the full-time club’s strength and conditioning programmes, their medical expertise and their sales, marketing and commercial initiatives.

You know,up to the announcement about the link-up/parnership,I was really optimistic about next season-yet,it`s rapidly turning into a repeat of all the other seasons :high expectations (my own ,I accept),then the unclarity of the actual agreement (more p-poor management from CH) and now these kinds of news.Sounds really a club against which to benchmark yourselves.
Agree with thecrab - as has been said before, only 2-3 clubs could stand on their own 2 feet. How to ruin a great game at semi and pro level.Stupid strategy (imitate the Aussies),poor execution of the strategy (at RLF level-how much are these guys on ??),narrow-mindedness at SL level and greed at (SL) club level.Don`t blame the players:if clubs`ll pay,why not take the offer.
