It is with great sadness that BARLA have been informed of the passing of Thomas Disken aged 79yrs who passed away at home in Dewsbury surrounded by his family on Friday 30th November.
Thomas was a solicitor who founded Disken & Co Solicitors in Dewsbury. He was the cousin of the late Tom Keaveney MBE, a founding member of BARLA, who he advised on legal issues on BARLA prior to its formation 1973. He was appointed solicitor for BARLA that same year.


“On behalf of BARLA I would like to pass on our condolences to Tom’s wife Marie and her family at this sad time, who were with him when he passed away at home. He had been BARLA’s solicitor from 1973 and I met with him on numerous occasions on legal issues concerning us," saidBARLA Chairman, Spen Allison.

“He was a friend as well as our legal advisor and a great champion of the amateur game and is great loss to BARLA and to everyone who knew him.”
Thomas’s funeral will take place at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Naylor Street, Dewsbury, WF13 2DF.
Thomas will be taken into church on at 6.30pm Tuesday 11th December.
The funeral service (Requiem Mass) will be at 1.30 pm on Wednesday 12th December followed by interment at Dewsbury Cemetery. Attendees will then return to the Church Hall for refreshments
