The RWC is the Rugby Union World Cup, and trademarked by the IRB, the Coup de monde Rugby XIII (the RLWC) has never been called the 'Rugby World Cup'.

It's a World Cup in the sport of Rugby. Therefore it is a Rugby World Cup. So is the the other code's Jonny-come-lately penalty kicking competition.

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

Remember, Slater didn't cocker up, the ball or the Ref did... :D

Mr Capp, the Ref made a ridiculous amount of mistakes (in the Aussies favour) after he wrongly disallowed Briscoe's Try in the Second Half at Wembley.

The 'Coup du monde de Rugby XIII' is the first Rugby World Cup but it has never been known as such, (Sir/King) Johnny-come-lately at the IRB patented the name Rugby World Cup, RWC, in the late-80s (?).

Wasn't supposedly the 'best Fullback in the NRL' shut out in the NRL Grand Final?... That analogy doesn't wash. If Melbourne 'found Barba out' then why didn't other team and why do Aussies rave about him?

Sometimes Tomkins has brain explosions under high-bombs, but didn't Slater cost the 'Roos the RLWC 2008?..

Slater did something stupid and cost the Roos the RWC but Tomkins problems are due to lack of ability under a high ball. It can be corrected by a lot of practice but from the last 4 nations to this years Challenge Cup semi, he has yet to show that he has overcome his failings in that department, an area, it has to be said, of huge importance at the full back position.

No Ganson did when he spotted Lockyer's knock-on that no one else did until the VR confimed it. Had that try been awarded then the Aussies would have taken an unassailable lead. Slater did make a mistake but that alone cannot be attributed as the main reason that Oz lost the game.
