I read the blogs of a left liberal [if there is one] he writes for the Philadelphia daily news,and he spoke about a statement by a by a right wing broadcaster about Obama's reaction and emotional statement. apparently he said "this is Obamas Riechstag moment".So I wonder what that means?is he implying that the president is going to make capital out of this and organise a christalnacht on guns and the 2nd amendment?

Any country were it is the right of citizens to have the means legally to have at their disposal enough weaponry to wipe out a class of school kids without trying hard to get the slaying tools is sick from top to bottom.

I can't agree but can see where you are coming from. I have been to the states many times and as people they are some of the friendliest people I have met. In fact the political state of the USA (gun laws, health, etc) always appear to be at odds to the people I have met (I didn't ask for people political views but they can't all of been democratic!).

Yes definately sick and I live there.Where I live its like a bible belt,and its about 20 minutes from Phila and they told me yesterday about 20 years ago in the mall where I shop and drink there was a shooting there just before christmas

Yes I get that impression too.I think the real right wingers with the Charlton Heston love of guns ,cold dead hand etc and no socialised healthcare must only spout this stuff on the internet

I've long since given up worrying about what Americans do with guns. The only American I know who actively owns one uses it/them for hunting. Proper hunting stalking deer by hiding in trees for hours etc.) and he eats everything he kills. I would trust him with those guns wherever he lived, and he would get a license for sure, even over here.

As for the rest, well its up to them. I often wonder when I'm over there who might be wandering around with a pistol in their coat.

The deaths of these poor kids and their amazing teachers will do little to change things in my opinion. It's ingrained in the psyche and Americans are remarkably conservative - even many who vote democrat.

Been announced today that a "British" kid was one of those killed. Does David Cameron call the American ambassador in for a meeting using threatening tones, like he would if it was a Muslim country, or will he just ignore it like he does with everything else where America is concerned?

I remember watching a tv programme in the US where a mother had pleaded for her son to stop partying and explained that she found him in the back garden with guns, but her major issue was the fact he was drinking.
