i was thinking of running the competition again this year but changing the format slightly! I thought of playing it in a league format where the participants play each other in a head to head format each week intead of the way we have played the last couple of years. For example, using last years players:
1.Mash V Paul Ballantyne
2. Blue Forever V SRC
ETC.
Would people want to stick with the old format or try it in the league format. There will be an overall table a well. If we decide to go with the league I will format the rules and post them in here.
Thanks.

Rules
Guesses must be made before kick off! BUT if you miss Thursday's games you can still guess on the weekend games.
When guessing please put your guesses in the same order as I list the fixtures
If you make a typo (eg you meant to put 22-12 and you put 22-112) I will have to put that down as your score (unless you correct it before kick off!)
We just predict the scores of the rugby league matches each week and score points accordingly i.e
Barrow V Featherstone 24 - 16
and you score points accordingly:This was the scoring system for last year, there will be additions if we decide to use the league format!
Scoring:
1 Point for the correct result (Home win/ Away win or draw)
2 Points for the correct result and 1 score correct
4 points for the correct result and both home and away scores correct as well
Example
Team A 14-10 Team B
Player 1 14-8
Player 2 12-11
Player 3 8-10
Player 4 14-10
Player 1 would get 2 points (correct result and 1 correct score)
Player 2 1 point (Correct result)
Player 3 no points (Even though they got correct score they got the result wrong)
Player 4 4 points (correct result and both scores)
These are the same rules as used in other competitions.
There will also be 5 bonus points for selecting the first Barrow Tryscorer.
*New Rule Pick One Match per week as your Joker. The Joker will score double points for that match only.*
i.e.
Barrow V Featherstone 24 - 16
If this was the correct score you would score 4 points
Hope this helps!

Either format Steve, you can count me in.
Just one question Steve. What happens if someone forgets to post their scores or drops out of the comp as many did last season, do you get a 'walk over' under the new format?

I've been in a tipping competition for a number of years, all but one year on a points system. The better your predictions, the more points you score, and the higher you finish.
In 2011 it was changed to a "league" format, where each week we were pitted against one other player (who changed every week). It wasn't very popular, and reverted to the original format last season.
The problem was that there were many anomolies with the scoring - many people who had good predictions over the course of the season ended up lower in the league than others with much poorer predictions.
Nothing to stop you having a go with a different format - but be warned!

Sorry for the delay in replying,Steve. I'll take part as usual but out of choice prefer the old system (Sir Jekylm influenced me).
Again many thanks for all, the work in running this comp Steve.. I just hope that people don't drop, out like last year.
