Me - Is this story about Jonah Lomu true ?
WKMD - Yes.
Me - Have you got £1m ?
WKMD - No.
Me - Have you got somebody prepared to sponsor him for £1m ?
WKMD - No.
Me - Well, how can it be true then ?
WKMD - (with patronising smile) It's true that we've made an enquiry about signing Jonah Lomu.

and still we progressReminds me of a conversation I had with a well-known MD of Sheffield Eagles about 17 years ago. There'd been a story in the press about us making an enquiry about Jonah Lomu, who was been touted around for £1m....

Investing ?
When I took out a mortgage, I didn't see that as the bank "investing" in my house.

Nice try griff but I heard last night it's not a loan he doesn't want it back. Also I heard he will put more in if/when it's needed.

In that case, that's good, Gaz. Rare indeed to find this level of philanthropy.

Robin, speaking as someone who found his club unexpectedly playing in claret and gold as a result of such benevolence, I know you'll understand my cynicism.

mr Nahaboo is a business man, he is not giving us money, he is investing it, and quite rightly will want something in return. whether that be monetary, success on the field, i don't know. likewise we are not a charity, we have to give him value for his investment. but the fact is, the opportunity is there and we have to grasp it. there are a number of super league clubs who would be glad of this opportunity, but it's not theirs it's ours and we must go with it.Robin, speaking as someone who found his club unexpectedly playing in claret and gold as a result of such benevolence, I know you'll understand my cynicism.
