After much discussion between Leigh Centurions Coach Paul Rowley and Salford City Reds Coach Phil Vievers, the decision has been taken not to play a friendly fixture this weekend.
The fixture had been pencilled in for this Sunday after the original game, due to be played over the Christmas period was postponed. That game will no longer take place. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The Centurions are next in action on Friday 25th January against Swinton Lions, with a 7:30pm kick off.

Yep, a club worth saving. I do feel sorry for the fans though, I wonder if the RFL will compensate Leigh from the Pot for this dent in finances caused by one of its elite being unable to fulfill a fixture.

Just why should they do that?

After that they can refund us the gate money we handed over to them last weekend!

Or, indeed, if they do.

The RFL request was tongue in cheek btw, but you fart around about the future of a failing SL club and don't give a Luvv about the impact £20-30k can have on a championship clubs budget. They have a squad, they are playing the week after, as they did the week before and are still in business. Its a joke, unless they pull out of the other fixtures of course.

Where does the £20-30k figure come from?

Be lucky if the crowd was 1500 for this game anyway. I don't think Salford wanted any more injuries, had a couple of head injuries after Sunday.

couldn't agree more craig. The loss of a friendly is a bog hole in a cc clubs finances, particularly at this stage in the seasonThe RFL request was tongue in cheek btw, but you fart around about the future of a failing SL club and don't give a Luvv about the impact £20-30k can have on a championship clubs budget. As a guess 2800 gate at £9 +vat, and £10k corporate/sponsorship - awaits disection of numbers from the wannabee beancounters. £10k to Salford £20k to Leigh

Cheers. Good to see a club incurs such small costs to stage a game.

Leigh should have thought of that before being so rough to us on Sunday. They'll be lucky if anyone will play them.

Good to see some detailed income and expenditure figures in this thread. I hate it when it's all randomly plucked numbers and baseless accusations.
Cheer up, RL is actually rather good
