It`s World Cup time and probably the sports most defining year ever in terms or raising its profile to a whole new audience and all the financial and commercial benefits it brings. The sport this year needs to brought to the attention to the whole country. What better way than having an 8/9 million viewers, 3 or 4 times a week surreptitiously being made aware of the competition. Step forward Coronation St and Emmerdale.
Surely its not beyond the wit of the RFL team to approach the writers of our 2 "Northern Soaps" to co-operate. Obviously it would be difficult to integrate a direct storyline but i`m sure an arrangement could be made for some prominent "product placement". Strategic posters, beer glasses, programmes etc.Maybe walk on parts for our own little and large ( Big Eorl and Mr Burrows), or Zac and Josh doing whatever they do,surely it shouldn`t be too difficult to arrange if the script writers are approached early enough. I`m sure many of the actors are followers of RL
and only too happy co-operate. So come on RFL, pull your fingers and contact the studios, there may even be a free hotpot (or 2 ) if Mr Woods
is interested, there is a whole free audience out there.
Personally on Emmerdale i`d love to get Gareth Hock on to sort out that Cain Dingle (Not that i watch it!)

I seem to remember Offiah appearing in Emmerdale some time in the dim and distant past probably when Scrumdown was a regular fixture on Yorkshire. As for Corrie, I think RL last featured when Granada were showing league games on a Saturday afternoon in the nineties. Presumably they don't give publicity to sports being shown on their rival channels. The Beeb were the same when they lost Formula 1 to ITV. Unfortunately this rule at the Beeb doesn't seem to apply to Union.

I recall at the last world cup in this country there was significant product placement on Corrie and/or Emmerdale, posters behind the bar, plus 8 panelled rugby ball I think??

Adam fogerty was in corrie and there was a character who played for salford. This is a great idea.
