Basic details of the routes for the stages of the Tour de France in 2014 have been announced. There are two stages in Yorkshire and one in the south.

Great to see them go up the cobbled street in Haworth. Unfortunately one of the carparks (still?) belongs to one of Britain's keenest clampers.

Excellent. We have a friend in Harrogate and Huddersfield is close enough to ride from home. Really looking forward to it.

It would be good if the route went in front of The George Hotel. If it's reopened that is............

How would that work? Last time I went to Huddersfield the area in front of the George is hardly suitable for a bike race.

They've already covered that Yorkshire will host the kick off. That a route will go through bits of London is, I think, new news.

Not sure how accurate that is, at least for day 2, as it's supposed to be heading up Cragg Vale (the longest continous ascent in England) which is missed completely on that map.

Probably go down Peckett Well into Hebden Bridge, up Cragg Vale to the Blackstone Edge reservoir, then turn left through Ripponden and Greetland to Elland.

Hope it's a nice day otherwise the peleton could be blown to pieces ... wind / steep slippery roads / stone walls.
