Probably go down Peckett Well into Hebden Bridge, up Cragg Vale to the Blackstone Edge reservoir, then turn left through Ripponden and Greetland to Elland.

Hope it's a nice day otherwise the peleton could be blown to pieces ... wind / steep slippery roads / stone walls.

That's as I'm anticipating it. Can't decide whether to walk through the village to Peckett or head over the moors to watch from higher up. Plenty of time to decide though.

How would that work? Last time I went to Huddersfield the area in front of the George is hardly suitable for a bike race.

Quite easy to arrange a bit of a loop in front of it and off up to the ring road.

Aye it gets a bit bleak towards Blackstone Edge in rough weather. There is also the hazard of the hill farmers in the area.......

If it goes up through Cragg Vale to Blackstone Edge it will take it pretty close to the meridian and the Pennine Way, which I'm sure the commentators will mention.

Not sure how accurate that is, at least for day 2, as it's supposed to be heading up Cragg Vale (the longest continous ascent in England) which is missed completely on that map.

That's a popular climb with local and visiting cyclists. The road is a good old climb but it is not very steep. I've found that thirst and needing to drink every few minutes is more of an issue for me cycling up it than tiredness.

Neither has ever been an issue for me. Mind you, my bike does have 130bhp.

I see stage 2 passes through Holmfirth. I assume they will respect local traditions, and tackle the hilly roads, not on fancy-dan pushbikes, but in tin baths with wheels.

It still hasn't come closer than a ten minute drive from me in the ten years I've had this gaff.

I did a reccy of the Peckett Well to Haworth section for them at 7.15 this morning. It's all perfectly clear.
