I can well understand them being not happy but in relation to the Stobart deal, my understanding is the deal was put to a vote and the majority of clubs went for it.

Lewis did seem to lean on them a bit heavily to get it through but surely the impact on having to get subsequent sponsors on board paying cash should have been addressed? If it wasn't then the clubs have only themselves to blame in this regard, no?

In reality the BETFAIR deal should have gone through the Catalan Dragons did not attend the meeting and RL voted to accept the STOBART deal on their behalf making it a tie and then used the chairman,s casting vote.BTW on another issue am i going blind or did i not see a Dragons player in the SL pre-season photos shoot?CM

I thought they couldn't advertise gambling in France? So why would they vote for it anyway? And Remi Casty, the captain, was there. In a Catalan kit funnily enough.

On the subject of Catalan, has anything happened with creating a French pro league? I kept seeing bits and bobs about it last year, but all has gone quiet.

A French pro league would be a massive boost to the european game and would presumeably save the Catalan team a fortune in travelling costs.

Was it Al-Jazzera that were proposing to fund it via TV rights?

Catalans wouldn't be in it. The salary cap would be much smaller to start with from what I read. Would love to see it happen. Catalans & Toulouse in SL + 6-8 teams in the French League would see a huge boom down there. Once the French League builds in profile, CD & TO could return and we have a genuine European element.

Sorry found him now it was the new kit that threw me.You are correct the only betting company that is allowed to advertise in France is the government owned PMU (Which makes the whole thing a bit of a farce)FOXY BINGO/TETLEYS will not be allowed to advertise and most other brands involved in RL are not available in France which is something that has to change at least when and if TOULOUSE get the green light.CM

Why not consider other imaginary teams inclusion in SL? What is the law regarding advertising aftershave in Czech Republic? A team from there will be in SL next year - FACT.
