A mate of mine who coached Zak Dewhirst at King Cross Park, told me Zak is on a 4 month trial at Melbourne Storm and staying with Gary Widdop (Gareths dad) and family. Dewhirst was at Warrington Wolves and has played for England Youth etc. Zak would then go in at Toyota Cup level with the U20s if he is signed up by the Storm. King Cross Park is also the junior club of Gareth Widdop. Melbourne are also going to play a game against Halifax of semi contact and train with them before the World Club Challenge against Leeds. Halifax and Melbourne have worked together in the past.

Good on the lad, I hope he makes it and many more join him as it can only boost our chances of matching the Aussies and now kiwis with the more English players playing in the NRL.A mate of mine who coached Zak Dewhirst at King Cross Park, told me Zak is on a 4 month trial at Melbourne Storm and staying with Gary Widdop (Gareths dad) and family. Don't let Parky see players coming from none Super League clubs
Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.<div align='center'></div>

You beat me to it, Marauder. Widdop learned his early rugby in Halifax as well, I believe. Cumbria tends to support this RL heresy as well.

Just for my own curiosity, what position does he play? My guess would be second row.

He plays prop or second row. He played at Huddersfield last season after switching from Warrington.
Zak is still only 17 so he would be eligible to play SG Ball under 18 before progressing to Toyota Cup.
