Of course, the sun may come out and melt it all or it may snow again and spoil every club's best efforts to keep the match schedule moving, but it wouldn't do any harm if fans with a shovel and a bit of free time were to ring their club and find out if help would be welcome.
Here's the Knights' appeal:
SOS! The Knights need YOU!
Due to the severe weather experienced in York this week, the Knights face a race against time to get the pitch ready for Sunday's big game with SuperLeague side Hull FC.
The club are appealing for any supporters who may be able to spare an hour or two on Friday from 11am to come down and help lend a hand in clearing the pitch of snow. After Thursday night the forecast is looking much more promising and the ground is still soft under the snow, so we are confident of getting the game on.
Even if it is just for an hour or all day, any help will be greatly appreciated. Hot tea and coffee will be provided, and if volunteers could bring their own gloves and snow shovels it will be hugely beneficial for us!
If you think you can help, please call Ian Wilson at the Knights office (01904 767404) to confirm your attendance.
