Mind you times change! We are good friends of the daughter of former Halifax Warrington Fulham and Great Britan Hooker John Dalgreen. He very kindly lent me some of his memorabilia, (which was very interesting). In one daily newspaper article about his career there was a piece above it about top flight football clubs (Manchester United Liverpool Arsenal etc) increasing their gate entry. The proposed increase was causing such a stir, as cubs and the league at time believed it was not unreasonable to increase entry across the board from 80p to £1.00! 1978.

If anyone thinks £17 is too much, they can buy a season ticket or if that is too much, then just don't attend, no-one is forcing anyone to come.

with rising gate money, falling gates & rising debts
With clubs.
no club can afford to lose support
there has to be a line how much is acceptable to
pay to watch a game..you try charging £50 for a
family to be entertained for 80 minutes youll see the death of rugby league...after the inside out programme there has to be radical changes
or the sport will be on its a.rse regardless how
much we love the world that is rugby league.
why do people not see it !!!!!

Coolie - On another thread you picked me up for suggesting you can't please some people any of the time. Um, is this another positive post?
If anyone thinks £17 is too much, they can buy a season ticket or if that is too much, then just don't attend, no-one is forcing anyone to come.
It's not the fact that £17 is too much for one person. I think what Coolie is saying that when families attend matches that's when it becomes expensive.............but I could be wrong!

The probable reason that the prospective Super League entrants charge high prices is that one of the criteria for submitting an application
for a franchise is that they have to have a minimum Annual Turnover level of, I believe, £2m pa. Therefore, they have to maximise all revenue opportunities.

I don't suppose any club at our level is awash wi cash. No club will make a substantial profit. Most will post losses.living beyond your means springs to mind.Is it what they want to charge or is it what they have to charge
I suppose if we are to keep challenging for the top spot and getting to finals etc, a squad capable of doing that will have to be recruited and paid for. Decisions are made at BoD level as to what is the optimum price that represents best income opportunities, viz:- price/attendees, and £17 was duly arrived at.
Fev are making 'managed losses' (paying the way out of admin and ground re-development) at the mo but do, for now at least, have an enormous amount of security and an investor prepared to pump money into the club... a lot of money.
Living beyond our means??? You do the maths!
As a speccie of a lot of years, these last three years have been the best for 20 years. I am quite happy paying for a gold season ticket. Attendances at Fev are increasing year on year as is the turn over and secondary income generation.
I'm quite happy at the mo.
However, if Coolie thinks the £17 is too much, well what can I say.... don't come!! I really don't see what the issue is??

everything has a price...and when it becomes unaffordable...you simply dont attend.
dont take away the sport of the people for the people.
because once lost they never come back.
policy at fev should be.....
becareful who you rob on the way up...
because their the ones to fill your buckets
on the way down
