Any way mad or not me a the kids loved the game today a was well proud if the boys, & to me I was given a lot of hope for the new season.
Well kids back home with there mum in leeds, me I'm back home in Hartlepool still buzzing after seeing the lads again a given them a real going, & been very unlucky not to have won.
So time to check the diary, the fixtures, finances a see what home games I can fit in this season.

Can't deny the effort put in, and I thought the defence was pretty good, it only failed once in the first half for an excellent Leeds try down the right wing, I'd like to see their second again as I wasn't at all sure it was grounded in the field of play ...
Only trouble was, the Leeds defence was just as good and despite spending most of the second half camped in their half, when we finally broke it down with Oakesy's try it was in truth too late. Grimmer came up with a few things, some worked and some didn't but we need someone to act as a foil, he's not going to be able to do it all on his own. Thought Kain (with plenty of work to do), Haughey in two spells, and Nathaniel in the second half showed up well. Of the four dual-regs in the Leeds team, I thought Sunley (no.2) showed most promise.
Onto the serious stuff next week then, at least we don't seem to have picked up any pre-season injuries this time, let's hope a bit of sharpness and variety in attack is on the menu in training this week.

I think Hawkwind sums it up perfectly.Every home game seems to be one long arm wrestle and today seems to be no exception.Plenty of effort and good defence but a lack of craft and guile when camped on the oppos line.To be honest id sooner have 2 big quality forwards like Richard Moore and Mitch Achurch on DL than 4 young kids, quality over quantity imo.Thought young Ansell give a nice ball for Oaksey,s try and the scrum half spot may now be edged in his favour over Hellewell and Windley.
Agree, i thought Ansell performed better than his previous outings, coming on giving decent balls and some decent kicks through. Regarding the 4 players, from todays performance i can see Hood & Keinhurst being in the team, but the other 2, despite combining excellently for the first try, made a few mistakes. Sunley looked decent good going forward but made quite a few handling errors. He also needs to invest in some rugby boots as quite a few times ended up on the floor.

I think Liam Hood will really sharpen us up down the middle from acting half and add a bit more speed to get us on the front foot. I think we could see him playing Sunday as Windley has a suspected fractured cheekbone, shame for the lad cause ive liked the look of him so far. I thought Sunley looked like he could have bags of potential, really ran the ball well and looked sharp, did a lot of work for them. Watson looked good, plenty of pace but not sure if hes better than our own options with Kainy, Hodgson and Bush. Keinhorst showed some nice touches but again, will he get in the team in front of Welham and Nathaniel who i both rate highly? some interesting decisions for Baz and the coaching staff to make ahead of our MUST WIN opening game next Sunday!

RFL directive to tighten up on the play the ball this season.looked far more than that tbh.Dont know if they,ve changed the rule on the play the ball, but yesterday we must have been done 3 times when in possesion playing the ball which really is schoolboy stuff and needs sorting fast.

As long as they are consistent, im happy with this rule. Play the balls have become a joke, just rolling the ball with the hand between the legs.
