Bit of a new era for both clubs.
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones
"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore
"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

With all Saford's troubles and the departure of so many players it appears they will struggle until their new signings have played a few games and they become a team.
Difficult to tell with Wigan, quality players leaving and some being replaced. Carmont replaced by either Hughes or Thornley and Hock's departure will be covered by Farrell, Tuson, Hughes or Gelling.
Sam Tomkins, O'Loughlin and Richards have noe featured in the pre season games.
Wigan should win this one.
Tickets for the Main Stand not on sale yet.

Wigan, in a close game. Neither side to pull up any trees this year, but with better futures ahead.

Wigan to win, but I expect Salford to make a go of it.
Just hope the fans roll up to please the good Doctor.

Salford have rarely troubled Wigan during the SL era.

Both teams will be better come the end if the season, albeit with more room for improvement in Salford I suspect. Pies to win unless they have an absolute shocker and Salford are truly inspired.

Wigan to win easy against a team i see finishing bottom this season after the departure of all their star players. Think this game will be a season highlight for wigan in what could be a very average dissapointing one on the whole

Why are tickets for this game not on sale? It's only three days away!
I've tried the web site and it's a blank page and the office didn't know yesterday when tickets will be available.
I'm travelling from London on Friday afternoon and I am looking forward to a complete shambles.

I believe Jack Murphy has gone on 1 month loan from Wigan to Salford and is available (for Salford) for this match.
Should add a little more spice.... also shows just how much Hock must have pee'd the management at Wigan off with his ban from playing Wigan.

Murphy has been sent to get experience, with a probable job vacancy up for grabs in the next few seasons. Great chance to show how he can cope with the high ball on Friday.
Hock has hardly been sent away to prove how good he is.

Typically well organised shambles. It's no wonder the RFL is £65m in debt
Turn up and pay on the gate, thats how it used to be, if the ground is full, then your too late.
I remember queues at the Willows where it took you 20 minutes to get in, during the 1972-5 period, as a neutral we used to turn up half an hour before kick off, and create an atmosphere - something lacking from todays ticketed all-seated arenas,
The Salerycap is not a target.
it should be normal business practice. This has been building up for 15 years, as has been HMRC tracking.
SJH has a file on every company (Club). You all have been warned & you ignore it, thinking the RFL will bail you out.

Wigan have tickets on sale. Salford are waiting for the takeover. I expect Wigan to score 40+

While I would love Salford to win this, I can only see a Wigan victory given all the disruption to Salford's off season/pre season and their subsequent inability to replace those players they lost last season. Hopefully Salford's troubles will be finally over this week and the takeover confirmed and so the squad can be built up as the season progresses. Having said all that, Salford could spring a surprise.
