In 1895 there were two NU teams in the city Manningham NU at Valley Parade and Bradford NU at Park Avenue.
Then in 1903 Manningham stopped playing rugby and switched to soccer and became Bradford City FC.
Then in 1907 Bradford stopped playing rugby and switched to soccer and became Bradford Park Avenue FC.
And some folk carried on with the rugby and called their club Bradford Northern, playing at Birch Lane then Odsal.
Right?

Just for clarity, the Manningham club just disappeared as a rugby club and the Bradford Northern (from Northern Union) was just the remainder of the Park Avenue club. More or less two thirds voted for soccer at the meeting in 1907. The rugby people kept all the rugby equipment, some of the committee and some of the players also stayed with the rugby side. Perhaps strangest is that some of the rugby players just changed to playing soccer for the Park Avenue club.

Ta.
Were there other Northern Union clubs who did likewise?
I always though Holbeck NU became Leeds City FC who begot Leeds United FC, but that was not the case apparently.

Wiki has it that Leeds City were dissolved in 1919 owing to be typical Leeds soccer people and dodgy ... they took over Elland Road "following the demise of Holbeck Rugby Club" in 1904.
Leeds United, legally at least, had no connection with Leeds City.

Yeah. Leeds City certainly inherited Elland Road when the rugby club went bust/just packed in, but there was no connection with Holbeck in terms of personnel it seems.
Years later Leeds City had all their players auctioned off by the FA, but Leeds United obviously stepped into the void pretty quickly, so perhaps.......same rogues, different name?

Which suggests a clear unbroken line since 1863, in the same way that we can rightly claim rugby heritage before 1895 (interestingly that vote was also about 2 to 1 although the anti-broken time RFU allowed all Oxbridge colleges to vote

The Leeds City types were involved with a Hunslet soccer club who were turfed off Parkside to make way for Hunslet's reserves. Something lik ethat anyway. This'll tell you http://prism.talis.c...y=green%2C+mike

Its also said to be the reason the club with 4 munich clocks are called SCUM.Leeds city were developing quite a good side prior to wwI.Yes they did do payments to guest players just like other clubs did and mainly man utd,but to protect the players who guested leeds refused to open their books Charlie Buchan was one of them .All clubs were guilty ,but the most guilty club got away with it again.ScumWiki has it that Leeds City were dissolved in 1919 owing to be typical Leeds soccer people and dodgy ... they took over Elland Road "following the demise of Holbeck Rugby Club" in 1904.

So let us so let us not talk falsely now.

What there is, is a direct line of people back to 1863. Players have come and gone, the ground has been changed and companies have gone bust but the line of people, either as players, administrators or fans is intact and the history of the game in the city is traceable.I remember that when Northern went bust in 1963, they came back as a new company Bradford Northern ( 1964 ) Ltd but I am happy to have the lineage date back to the 1860's.

in that case leeds can trace there routes at least as far back by including the likes of kirkstall and leeds athletic . but of course as an actual club that would be no more the case than it would be for bradford
does life get any better .

Yes, I very much suscribe to that train of thought. I was just replying to the question if the present club was the same company that was formed when they broke away from Bradford FC.
