I never failed in the Mecca.
Mind you, I only went there half a dozen times.

I don't think anyone in Bradford dislikes Leeds or its citizens. After all, everybody goes there to shop. However, we don't like it enough to want to live there, or to see our city subsumed by it.

:)

whaat did you reckon to the Penny farthing?

I used to be overpowered by thr Brut fumes the minute I walked in

Was that the one in the Ice Rink? Was it that one that became Time & Place? I know the name but can't place it. I went in many places once or twice, but, by and large my nightclub days were confined to the 1980's and 1990's. I was married from 1974-1980.

Backstage/Upstage, Spindles, Cookys, Dukes & Silks, VIP's, Cavernes, Fagins, Pile Bar, 42nd Street, Rio's, Palm Cove, the Mecca, Calico Jack's .... ah, them wuz the days.

I've been refused entry to most of that list... :)

Where was Fagins now? I've been but cant remember it. Penny Farthing (before my time) was up Charles St. The place above the ice rink has had a few names...Annabellas for one. Time & place was in the midland hotel building and turned into the 0898 club. Phones on the table with the idea being you could chat someone up via phone....classy.

I think its fair to say that when places like Blue Lace or Cloud Nine were open, Leeds was the poor relation to Bradford night club wise. Incredible but true.

Fagins was downstairs in the lovely stone building on the corner of Rawson Market facing the Jack Fulton Frozen Food Shop. The building is still there and was not demolished when the new Wilkinsons Shop was built. As far as I'm aware the building has been unused for several years.
