There is one consolation for the visitors, and it is a good one. There was an excellent attendance, and their share of the gate will recompense them for the heavy defeat.

RL was undeniably a little slower and scruffier back then, but I personally preferred it because the scores were much closer on average. Depends if you want cleaner but less close (on average) games.

But you can have cleaner and closer games in the NRL.

You've yet to explain why you don't like this.

This was a discussion about the top tier so why add second tier games as well? Why not just put up the top division scores? By the way - for a whole season across both divisions that is not actually too many large score margins! There were almost as many in SL alone last season with quite a few above 60.

So you are saying blow-outs are ok in the second and third tier but unacceptable in the first tier.

What about the fact that 82/83 was in the 3 point try era, some of those scores would look at lot worse with four point tries, a lot of the thirty point scores would also tip into the 40 point area.

You continually claim these things didn't happen, its obvious they did, and in large numbers.

Go away, do some maths, come back with ACTUAL FACTS that back up your argument.

Of course he doesn't have facts.

Even if he somehow produced the facts he would need to provide some form of evidence that the 10m rule directly caused the blowouts rather than anything else that is different about the game since then. In summary he is miles away from making anything like a point.

The thing that annoys me most about Lobby is that you know he is sat there wishing for the game to fail in the hope it somehow proves his point. He probably watches hoping it will be a blowout and be over by half-time just so he can continue to make his point about the 10m rule being the root of all RL's problems.

I love Rugby League. I enjoy watching all levels of the game. I love the commitment of anyone who is prepared to play the greatest game. I love the pace, power and skill. If I watch a game where there is a "wide to West" moment or one sides superior skill creates a blowout score I still love Rugby League.
