excellant result from the boys. gutted i couldnt make it now. just wait until we get the likes of matty, miller and rooney back. good result for the jam as well, and as i said earlier in the week i really fear for the raiders. did paul wood play for swinton.

I'm pretty sure wood did play and went off as he was ineffective

Superb effort lads! Awesome result.
Well done to the Vikings too.
The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

Brilliant result well done town, who was MOM?

All of them. Take your pick. The one's who got most mentions were Callum, Morris, Lupton, Dowes, Stack, Mossop and Brett Phillips but everyone apparently played their part in the win. Paul Woods seemed to be getting involved but lost the ball many times or threw out a daft pass.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

just shows how good our coaches are. they could have easily used all the available widnes lads, but they went with the lads who train and play together week in week out

A different Peter Lupton on show today, involved in everything, scored a wonderful try and made some vital tackles. Bodes well for the future cos a fit and involved Lupton is an asset to any team.

Workington Town. Then. Now. Always.

Hopefully no injuries to worry about . So proud of our guys , special mention for Matthew Johnson as we're always super conditioned . Defence wins games , and seemed great today . Unfortunately I caught Coxys fawning interview with woodsy but niva mind ... As for Swinton ? More help please mr Smith ! Next week Halifax are here - how massive is that after all the years of poor fair . Lets hope the game is sold by the club n local media and the fans flock in . We deserve support .

dual reg getting some criticism on the radio. yes it isn't ideal if lads training all week get their noses pushed out by SL players but i don't think that's how it will be used it will be to bring players in should teams be struggling through injuries.

I would have thought 2 , but to do it with one and that being a winger ... Against 9 !!!! I bow down to Charlo , he knows best and boy did we show that fitness , unity and passion count for so much . You can't throw a team together like fantasy rugby league , that was poor form and got what it deserved.

Well done to all at the club. I was cacking myself about today after swarrington's tactics came to light. Says alot about team spirit and knowing who you're playing with to me.

Town (and Widnes) used the system as it is supposed to be used. Town coach selecting his team finds himself short of a winger. Widnes had offered us the use of 2 forwards and a back and as Widnesrlfc says earlier in this thread, Hulme is a centre rather than a winger, but he was probably our only option for the wing, so we play him (and by all acounts he did a good job). Well done everyone.
