Thanks Lee, what went wrong today at Hunslet? Didn't expect that scoreline.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

i was expecting to get beat Keith but a bonus point at least.....a bit shocked to be honest although in both pre-season games we looked very very poor in my eyes....no new moves in attack and very predictable...something will need to change and fast or we will be playing catchup from early doors mate

Just got home, perhaps one of the best games I've seen for ages. Town, were the fittest, smartest and most together team. Exciting prospect in young Phillips, but all the team were men of the match. Super sound in defence and great going forward. I saw the real Lupton today! Well done to all the team, including the background staff. A team that played for each other won the day.

Not sure, but I think Walne was put on report for a bit of pushing.

What a bloody superb win, and one that shouldn't be underestimated. Any win on first day is a good one, it sets a tone for the season. Bit to win away with players missing in a better league against a team flouting the rules is fantastic. Well done to all involved, man I'm excited for this season. Can't wait to see how we do against fax, give us an idea as to how things are going to go at home.

Just in passing, Swinton played all three DR players, Wood, Laithwaite and McCarthy. Town made them look ordinary! They also used all six recent signings from Warrington plus Liam Hulme who signed from Warrington in October.

Walne , Dowes and the Thackrinator are gonna be huge for us this year .. Add Acton who looks a total beast and we've got loads
of grunt to terrorise teams with . Young Callum then Matty will have a field day ! Halifax in our upgraded stadium should be bouncing ! Needs to be sold to the rafters to get them flocking in . But on the Swinton Wolves forum they were just two average teams today ...

I think they were expecting to install them this week in time for the Halifax match.

How did thacks play yesterday?

He was excellent and seemed to relish the new structure of the pack. Hated being substituted at one point and was keen to get back on. All squad members should get the star man award for their gutsy display and there should also be a special award for Gary, Martin, Butch and the background team for the way they prepared the team for this game.

Yeah we used 9 dual reg and now we will get fined for breaking the rules.....get real.!! we played 3 D/R's the rest are on 12 month contracts and are Swinton players the fact that they all come from arguably the best super league club seems to be getting under some peoples skin.
Had we gone out to six deifferent clubs and brought in six new players would this debate even have arisen.
Clearly we haven't broken any rules as all the players have to be registerd with the RL.
Time people got over the fact we have used the rules to the best of our advantage, remember Swinton didn't set them and they open to every club to operate in the same way.
As the result showed it doesn't always work..... well done today on your win Town well and truely deserved it and will go ok in this league.

Absolutely correct marshy 1 and thanks for the praise for Town. I know Swinton train part-time at Warrington but it will be interesting to see how the RL react if the six ex- Warrington lads continue to train full time at Warrington, up to this year that used to be against the operational rules if you were contracted to another club. Good luck with your season and I look forward to the return at Derwent Park..
