The Widnes team back then when Davies, offiah and Hulme etc were playing that was a great squad if it had'nt of been for the mighty Wigan back then I think Widnes would of been the mighty team.

I remember us beating that Widnes team in a Lancs Cup match in 1991 , the team from memory included Spruce, Devereux , Currier, Wright , D Hulme, ,McKenzie, Eyres , Grima , Faimalo and a Kiwi prop i think called Se'e Solomona (Tiny) ?

I remember that right at the start of the season... Star studded Widnes side . That was the sign we were pushing on again after that fine year that ended in front of a packed house against Salford ... If only King Kenny hadn't got injured ...

i think it was the year after David, and it went downhill after that in that 8 team division where we seemed to play Carlisle about 6 times!

Grima got sent off that day for lamping Paul Penrice who had spent the previous 50 minutes winding him up at every opportunity under instructions from Ashton !

No better man for the job !! :)

I only saw Jonathan Davies lose it once and guess who he lost it with? I'd love to know what he used to say to them in the tackle.

That was a brilliant game, and as said Ben wound Grima right up and ended up with a red, something Ben was excellent at doing.

Looking forward to the doncaster game we could have ACTON COWARD and maybe one other that would be great. If so looks like we will only need a couple of lads from WIDNES

Ben Kavanagh is sponsored in the programme so it'll be interesting to see him . As has been said it would be nice with Shacks out to have some impact 2nd row on the bench . It's a big ask for Brett n Jarrad at this level to do a tough 80 , and as we saw with Mannings try it can have an effect through fatigue . Brett would spanner him normally . But this is a winnable game , especially with a half rejigging , to get Gore involved more .

i think well see 1 of the props move to 2nd row, probably either acton or thacks. now we have all of the props available i just cant see any of the 5 missing out.

No way they're to good ... Get those quick plays of those guys and Callum n Gore should have a field day . That's one area Fax did us , in the wrestle . To get full value from our power we need to get scooting off the back of it like when Mattys purring at his best . Haven't really seen that yet .

whos too good? we need someone to spell the 2nd rowers so surely using one of our more mobile props is the answer.

David i just cant see Kavanagh been any better than the props we have when all are fit .As Wonky as already suggested with either thacks or acton covering second row .

ah i see. yeah all 5 need to be included until shacks is fit. load up the bench with 3 of them and a replacement hooker. having a hooker and a halfback is pointless and leaves us tired in the forwards.

Target young Goulding in the defensive line and you will have a field day. Good with the ball in his hands but not so when it comes too the hard work. Shifting the ball early will reap its rewards
