Just reading that also makes you sad for the current state of rugby in Oldham.

Yes, it also shows what a big time club they were in the 1950's. I previously posted that on another thread with regards to Oldham and it was called false by others so I am glad to see the write up demonstrating what a power they were. The mention of many of the other star players in the side with Mr Stirrup is also a welcome reminder.

I started watching them as an 8 year old with my mate from school and his dad.
Wonderful memories of one of the best teams never to get to Wembley.
Thanks for your post and acknowledgement of their status and achievements.
