from the castleford website

Castleford Tigers are disappointed to confirm that star half back Rangi Chase has been banned for two games after tonights RFL disciplinary hearing.
Chase has been found guilty of committing a Grade B reckless strike on Leeds Rhinos full-back Zak Hardaker in the 63rd minute of Sunday's fixture at the Wish Communications Stadium.
The club are undecided whether or not to appeal. Chief Executive Steve Ferres said: “Naturally, we are disappointed by the outcome and are considering our options.”

Fozzards comments hardly support the view of keeping ex players involved in the game for their knowledge.

Doesn't look like an elbow was used here. Isn't that what Zak Hardaker accused Rangi of using?Attached File  image.jpg   191.96K   24 downloads

Zak admitted that he was wrong about the elbow this morning.

It's still a shoulder in the face, which at best is poor technique. Given Mr Chase's previous form for this type of challenge, I think he's very fortunate to get away with a two match ban.

The picture is on twitter. It shows contact with the head, wouldnt say he's fallen into it. The picture isnt at exact time of impact.
Fozzard basically said Rangi did nothing wrong because zak and other players should learn to run upright so i asked him ,in that case once a players head drops below shoulder height should it become open season, to which he replied yep.

That's a fudging silly thing to say. So if a player is going to ground then an elbow to the eye-socket is ok by him. Fool.

i think he was meaning if your in full motion of doing a shoulder charge n the player either falls into it or tries to duck to avoid it its classed as accidental. If hardaker stand up straight he shadows over rangi n that shoulder hits him across the chest. Fozz doesn't exactly word what he mean by the sounds of it

The committee in finding Mr Chase guilty are satisfied that there was no intention to injure but do feel that the tackle was certainly reckless, with the potential for serious injury, although in this case it did not result. The act was certainly not malicious the committee feel. The committee take into account the player’s record and feel that a 2 match suspension and a £300 fine is appropriate in this instance.

Seems fair enough reasoning
