Has anyone heard any newsreaders call it 'Tod-morden' as opposed to its proper name 'Todmudden'?
Someone on Radio 5 last night made the normal mistake but a little later another presenter used the correct pronunciation.

Clearly they are, the pronunciation is Tod mudden/modenn. Ask anyone who speaks proper.Never heard it called 'Todmudden', but then again my mates who live there are Guardian types from down south.

Timely, considering the news of some meats not being what they seem. Is there a pie shop next door?

Todmorden, a town of 15,000 population, has produced 2 Nobel Prize Winners.
Not sure about any Nobeef Prize Winners.
