Has anyone heard any newsreaders call it 'Tod-morden' as opposed to its proper name 'Todmudden'?

Someone on Radio 5 last night made the normal mistake but a little later another presenter used the correct pronunciation.

Never heard it called 'Todmudden', but then again my mates who live there are Guardian types from down south.

Clearly they are, the pronunciation is Tod mudden/modenn. Ask anyone who speaks proper.

Timely, considering the news of some meats not being what they seem. Is there a pie shop next door?

Not next door but not far away.

Long pig pies anyone?

I'm not sure I can eat beef with the same unbridled enthusiasm as before.

I notice a place in Aberystwyth has been implicated. My daughter is studying equine science at the town's uni; I did wonder if this was how the faculty got rid of specimens from failed research projects.

Todmorden, a town of 15,000 population, has produced 2 Nobel Prize Winners.

Not sure about any Nobeef Prize Winners.

Appropriately, the theatre in Todmorden is called The Hippodrome.

Tesco are doing a triple points deal on your Clubcard, but only on Petrol & Burgers, it's called Only Fuel & Horses

I got sacked from my job as a shelf stacker at Tesco for throwing a box of burgers at a collegue, and it hit a manager, apparently they don't like Horse Play

Tesco say they've been using the same meat supplier for ages, apparently it's been going on for donkey's years
