The problem as ever for png is they are caught in a trap. They need a proper schedule to develop but money and logistics seems to always prevent that and they are reduced to playing clubs in pre-season. We are so short sighted with png who should be developed as a serious international heavyweight, the only country where rugby league is genuinely the national sport and they are reduced to this!

This wasn't a national side, it was a PNG Select XIII made up of upcoming players from the domestic competition. Ignorant journalism as usual from the Aussies.
From reading that, it looks as though the game was pretty level until the final quarter, where the full-timers ran away with it as would be expected.

I remember PNG giving England a real scare in the WC when tony smith was our leader, they have great pride In their jerseys and will be a force in the WC

They've been billed elsewhere as a PNG Residents side. I can't find a report with the PNG full side listed but it was supposed to be the same guys who gave the Aussie PM's XIII a fright last year and the names in various articles kicking round seem to confirm that.
