Monday February 11

Three Super League players have been charged with offences during Round Two of the competition.

Catalan Dragons prop Julian Bousquet has been charged with making a Grade D dangerous shoulder charge on Theo Fages of Salford City Reds during the second minute of their fixture on Saturday.

Bousquet is charged with intentionally striking with the shoulder and will appear before the RFL Disciplinary Panel on Tuesday evening.

Castleford Tigers stand-off Rangi Chase will also appear after he was charged with committing a Grade B reckless strike on Leeds Rhinos full-back Zak Hardaker in the 63rdminute of their fixture at Wish Communications Stadium on Sunday.

Widnes Viking prop Ben Cross has been charged with the Grade B offence of making a late tackle on Paul Wellens in the 58thminute of his side’s 16-4 defeat to St Helens on Sunday.

Cross has until 11.00am on Tuesday (February) 12 to submit an Early Guilty Plea in relation to the offence. If he elects to submit an EGP, Cross will be suspended for one match.

All three players were charged after the incidents were viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel, which issued formal cautions to the following player:
  • Matty Smith (Wigan) - dangerous lift on Warrington’s Simon Grix in the 50thminute
The RFL Match Review Panel also deemed that sin-binning was sufficient punishment for Jon Clarke of Widnes Vikings following a fighting in the 58thminute of the game against St Helens.

I need some help re: the disciplinary

The Chase hit looked very similar to the one on Ropati last year to me. What makes one a B and the other a C?

All these are described as "late" "reckless" and so on.
The reason that all three victims were concussed is that the tackles were "high" and that fact does not appear to have been addressed.
This really does need looking at.

Catalan Dragons prop Julian Bousquet and Castleford Tigers stand-off Rangi Chase were both suspended when they appeared before an RFL Disciplinary Tribunal last night (Tuesday).

Bousquet was suspended for four matches after pleading guilty to making a Grade D dangerous shoulder charge to the head of Theo Fages of Salford City Reds in the second minute of a Super League Round Two fixture on Saturday.

Bousquet was also fined £300.

Chase was banned for two matches and fined £300 after being found guilty of making a reckless shoulder charge to the head of Leeds Rhinos full-back Zak Hardaker in the 63rd minute of the fixture at Wish Communications Stadium on Sunday.

Chase pleaded not guilty to the Grade B offence.

Widnes Vikings forward Ben Cross earlier accepted a one-match suspension after submitting an Early Guilty Plea to the Grade B offence of making a late tackle on Paul Wellens of St Helens in the 58th minute of his side's 16-4 defeat on Sunday.
