South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been arrested over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home, local media say.

Shocking, really. Conflicting reports at the moment - some rumours she surprised him during the night and he shot her, others that they'd been arguing etc. Guess we won't know the truth for a while.

There are no conflicting reports from the police. Just some odd details leaked to the press by other people.
What the police are saying: Oscar Pistorius shot his girlfriend. There have been previous domestic incidents in the Pistorius household. Oscar Pistorius has been charged with murder.
More details may emerge at 12noon GMT when he's due in court - including the possibility of mistaken identity - but so far that is all that is in the public domain directly from the police.

I see those charming people at The Sun have gone for the "Whooarr! Look at the norks on that murder victim!" angle.
I find that a lot more palatable than, for example, the Guardian referring to a potential murderer as 'a flawed hero'.
