Good effort for the fri game,actually pushing Championship Football on sat between Brighton v Hull,down to third place with 202,000.

Just to be clear, last year Wigan v Warrington was in round 8 and was watched by 295,000 on a Friday night. That was the highest rated match all season after the Grand Final. The return fixture was on a Saturday afternoon in August, the penultimate day of the Olympics, and was only watched by 119,000.

The Friday night round 2 fixture last year was Saints v Salford with 278,000 viewers.

What channel were those games on as more people have ss1 than ss2

It really is all dependant on a number of factors.The Channel - the same game will achieve a different audience,dependant on whether its shown on SS1 or SS2.Obviously the calibre of the game is important,as is what it is screened against.This fridays game had Championship football against it on SS2 and ru on ESPN.

Generally RL does fine,but broadly is similar to cricket,darts and ru.I know that people claim that RL is the second most popular sport on Sky but that is not really the case.It really all depends on the Channel,the game and the opposition.
