In the RL press this morning John Kear the Batley coach was complaining about his team having to travel to Barrow last Thursday and also stating that Leigh had to travel to Whitehaven the week before. He says that his players are part-time players and have to get time off work, etc, etc, and don't get back home until late in the night.

What the hell does he think the Cumbrian clubs have had to do when they appear on Premier Sports on a Thursday evening? I didn't hear him making any comments when we were at Doncaster last year on a Thursday evening or what about this year when we are at Keighley on a Thursday evening!!!!

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.
