Rugby League World Cup 2013 (RLWC2013) today announced Hertz as the Official Vehicle Hire Supplier for the tournament. Hertz is the world's largest general car use brand and will provide cars and vans for use by tournament officials and the competing nations.

A specially branded RLWC2013 Hertz van has also been launched today with the help of international players Lee Briers (Wales), Tyrone McCarthy (Ireland), Richie Myler and Ben Westwood (both England). The van will transport the iconic Rugby League World Cup trophy around the UK as it visits clubs, schools and landmarks in all of RLWC2013's host communities and beyond.

As well as RLWC2013, Hertz's existing partnerships include The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, British MotoGP, West Bromwich Albion FC, the New Zealand International Sevens Rugby Tournament, and Melbourne Football Club.

RLWC2013 Commercial Manager, Rob Singleton said: "We're really pleased to have Hertz on board as the official vehicle hire supplier of RLWC2013. With 14 nations playing at 21 venues the vehicles Hertz provide us with will effectively keep the tournament running. It's great news too that the partnership starts right away with the specially-designed Trophy Tour vehicle hitting the road to take the Rugby League World Cup trophy across the UK."

Michel Taride, President of Hertz International, said: "We're hugely excited to be working in partnership with RLWC2013 as Official Vehicle Hire Supplier. Pairing with such a dynamic and well-respected international organization was a natural choice for us. As well as providing a fleet of cars and vans for players and officials, Hertz will be supplying a special trophy vehicle to make sure the all-important cup travels in style too."

To celebrate the new partnership, Hertz and RLWC2013 are offering ticket holders a special dicount off basic car rental in the UK for all car groups booked between now and November 30, 2013 for hire during the fixtures, which run from October 26 to November 30, 2013. The special offer can be obtained simply by visiting (www.rlwc2013.com) and entering the six digit discount code on display.

Just to add onto the RLWC in the media theme, Offiah was on Simon Mayo's Drivetime last night. I was home by the time it was on but I intend to listen again on iplayer, I presume it was the usual 5 minute slot around 6.45pm.

Shame South Africa didn't make it, this would have been a perfect opportunity to leverage their star centre Hertz Van Rental.

Sorry.

I came off the motorway because of the jam to use the A58, and it was on the roundabout

Nice to see the two sponsors announced so far are new to the game, certainly in this country.

Would be nice if we manage to get some long term partners out of this WC.
