Just to be clear, Brough has played for Scotland more times than Chase has played for England.

Just to be clear, if that same dog played rugby league for the stable for three seasons then yes it would be a horse.

it would'nt matter how long the dog slept in the stable, he'd still be a dog.

Did Manu Tuillagi not play union for England whilst an illegal immigrant?

No.His immigration status/nationality was clarified before he played for England.

I think he played for Leicester while on a student visa -but what has that got to do with Danny Brough?

GB is'nt the answer.....

if GB is brought back player will still opt for england because england will be playing in big tournaments every year inbetween GB tours...

if we want players to opt & stick with wales, scotland & ireland we need to give those nations their own "combination team" minus england.....this team ( celtic tigers) could replace the exiles as englands mid season opponents...they could tour down under....etc..

that would serve the celtic nations far better than a GB team featuring 17 england players!

Firstly, you're assuming that if a GB team were brought back that England would play in big tournaments in between tours. What if, as used to happen, Engalnd only play at World Cups, with GB playing in tours and the 4 Nations?

Secondly, I dont see how a combined Celtic team would entice players to turn their back on England simply to play in a mid season match. Surely, if playing against the Aussies in the 4 Nations is such an enticement, Celtic players would still have to play for England to play in those games? And would the Welsh, Scottish or Irish fans really be interested in such a contrived team?

Everyone I think

Danny Brough is English and probably shouldn't have been allowed to turn out for Scotland. That he did is actually irellavent in the world of international RL

The issue that is being ignored is that it seemingly doesn't matter how good you are, if you aren't one of maccas pets you won't get picked

leave england out of it!!

the RFL have spent the last 5 years building up the England brand....England is'nt going anywhere and its not going to be replaced by GB....

I really don't understand why people don't understand the " celtic tigers" concept for wales, scotland & ireland???

think of it as GB minus england!!...a team for welsh, scots & irish internationals!! like i said this team could play England midseason,it could tour,it could even play off v france for a 4nations spot....and then split into wales, scotland & ireland for the world cup...

Point taken, but the GB brand was built up over a lot longer time than that and was still dropped. And the England team wouldn't disappear - we still had an England team playing alongside GB.

And presumably the Celtic Tigers would replace the Exiles - another brand the RFL have been trying to build up for a few years. Although I have to admit, the Celtic Tigers would at least have some benefit to RL in this country beyond simply giving England a mid season game.

The whole World Cup tournament is a joke to me!

The best Australians playing in the NRL play for Australia, everyone else
just rates the other nations in their perceived order of ability and tries to play for
the highest rated team that will give them a game, nationality has nothing to do with it.

Brough has apparently "Destroyed" and "Dismantled" Leeds Rhinos "almost singlehandedy" not my words but those of Rodd Studd.

Kicked 2 40/20s scored a try Kicked 4 Conversions and has apparently laid on almost every other try that Hudds have scored.

But hey, he's not good enough for England.

Just seen the highlights. Brough was involved in pretty much every clip. Kicked Leeds to death. Rangi on the other hand did nothing at Hull other than niggle and tried to play the hard man against Tom Lineham (and got shown up).

According to Chris Irvine, McNamara was at Headingley this evening and would have been able to see for himself the form of Brough - maybe Irvine or another journalist will be able to give McNamara an opportunity to explain just what it is that Brough is missing from his game?

the celtic tigers would be the responsibility of the welsh, scots & irish governing bodies...nothing to do with the RFL...

its about the celtic nations stepping out of the RFL & Englands shadow...and doing whats best for them!

just to add as well......im not against GB...id love it to return as a touring side every 4 year a la the british lions...but its pointless having it at the moment because it will just be the england 17 in GB chevrons..

but having a very competitive england v celtic tigers series would/could provide a legitimate pathway to bringing back Great Britain in the future...

Theres nothing to stop the British Lions been all English if they where all better than the players from Scotland Ireland and Wales,as per all the other permutations.

The trouble is that as someone has pointed out, Sinfield is in the way, in Brough's 2013 position.
McNamara has played his hand with Sinfield, and in many ways you can't disagree. If Sinny was a bit bigger and McNamara wanted to play a game with 3 pivots, then he could go to 13 and then room for Brough.

Brough's long kicking game is the best in the land. But yes we need an explanation on why he isn't considered.
