Couldn't have put it better Art of Hand and Foot .

Really pleased to see that Scott Naylor will not be using DR players this Sunday ...but it was his reasoning for this which may be of most significance .

He may be putting out what he currently reckons is his strongest 17 , simply because of the flak he has been copping since the Cru game but I prefer to believe that he recognizes that this fixture has special significance given the opponents and is not the time to experiment ...go with the tried and trusted .

He may well then revert to plan A and use the remaining 2 Trains Cup games to look at some different options including more DR players before the serious stuff begins.

Maybe some of the more extreme comments about him being a second rate coach on the payroll of Salford seem a little hollow now .

The main thing going for us on all fronts is potential. Swinton put in the performance last year and got promoted. No ground, no crowd, no potential. Rochdale have got a ground, well the use of one,. So far no performance. Hence no crowd and only slight potential. More potential than Swinton imho. Us, the mighty Oldham!? Well we have a ground, but no structure to it. Yet.But it has potential. The team!? The past has shown thatif we can wwin we will get the crowds. Remember the Fordy era? We were a winning team but we had nowhere to live. If we had who knows where we would be now? Now we have somewhere to live. Lets get winning.then the crowds will come aswill sponsorship. We have more potential than a lot others. Leigh, Featherstone and even Widnes are the size of royton. Halifax is a smaller town than us. We can do it.

I assume that the players signed by Oldham are paid only if they play - I would be very upset if I had travelled and trained all week and then get dropped at the 11th hour for someone who hasnt been near the place all week.

This senario will be mirrored at all DR associated clubs.

In a meaningless competition anyway I wonder how long the players not getting a game will last.

Baffled as to why Swinton have no potential? Played outside of the town for twenty years and still have 500 hardcore fans.

The potential IS THERE . . . .GRANTED , but without a NEW board of directors ( Chairman )........ Oldham will get nowhere ...............

Great point superdude when CH stood up in QEH in 1997 he did say that he won't pay players to sit in the stand and in the first year he stood by this but I think this has gone due to him taking a hefty contract every year

Oldham have paid very contracts to a few players every year without much success

I see no difference in old days when players got in a squad and a few played in A team to prove themselves and got dragged in so team never got called till Saturday morning

Hopefully players getting messed about wake up and go back to play with their mates at waterhead St Anne's or Saddleworth and don't walk away from game due to people who take a lot of money of our great game
