Thanks for all the advice. Its just a shame that the Broncoes can't seem to provide us with a competative game whenever we have been. But it will be great to experiance the game with a fairly full stadium and 2 top sides. Looks like we have got 6 of us going. 2 have not been to a match before so hopefully a few converts to your great game.

I think the Easter Weekend will be a great shout for us.

Our great game.

Manchester is a great base for something like this.

Direct train lines to most rugby areas including Wigan, Warrington, Leeds, and Huddersfield. Good city centre night life and a lot of places to stay.

For the big game atmosphere any of the recognised derbies Hull, Wigan Saints, Leeds Bradford, Wigan Warrington or you could go cross pennine games, Wigan Leeds, Warrington Leeds, Saints Bradford was at one time a good one but Millward screwed that up.

Other games to watch for are Cas Leeds which tend to have a bit of bite and Saints Warrington which tend to be dramatic.

Keep the faith! The atmosphere at the Stoop is and always has been garbage but luckily the Broncos will be out of the morgue next year.

Griffin Park was always a much better atmosphere, though the club failed to improve this by not opening up more sides. Hopefully next year will see the club in a better and more atmospheric ground

Thanks for the advice, def not from Barnes, we are North London boys a travelodge in Leeds or Manchester would suit us perfectly. I will have a look at the fixtures. 2 games in the weekend would be great.

Huddersfield Travelodge is well placed for their ground and a reasonable walk to town for a few beers. If you like good beer then the Sportsman t6akes some beating http://www.undertheviaduct.com/

The Slubbers Arms is good for pre-game beers.

I'll second this reccomendation....start with a few in the Slubbers Arms before the game, then train to Leeds for your night out.

Cas/Wakey is always a belting, if hostile atmosphere.

Why not make a long weekend out of it and take in a Thursday night championship game. I can recommend Fev, obviously. But other top semi pro teams are available.

Thanks for all your advice. We are making a long weekend of it. We are going to leeds vs Bradford on the thursday night and then Wigan Saints on Friday.

On the Monday we are keen to get a championship game but we don't know much about the league or the geographical locations. Which of the following are easily accessible from leeds and should be a good game.

Featherstone vs Swinton Championship Hunslet vs Keighley Championship 15:00 Barrow vs York Championship 15:00 Doncaster vs Halifax Championship 15:00 Leigh vs Workington Championship 15:00 Whitehaven vs Sheffield Championship 18:00 Dewsbury vs Batley Championship
Thanks for all your help.

If it was me I think I'd pick the Dewsbury v Batley game. Handy for Leeds plus a good rivalry.

Are you driving or using public transport?

Featherstone, Hunslet and Dewsbury are your closest ones.

If you're driving back on the Monday, Doncaster might be a good bet. It's a bit further out, but it's a bit further down the motorway so is on the way home.

Dewsbury v Batley should be good, but if you're heading back Monday I wouldn't recommend it. It won't finish until 8pm and then it's a long trip home

Hunslet v Keighley is practically Leeds v Bradford, so could be a good way to bookend the weekend

None of us have ever played a game of rugby of either code, we all play football but prefer watching Super league to football.

Is their a standard in london for real beginners as adults?

The RFL website has a Club Finder search bar. Centre of the page, near the bottom: to be honest the site is a bit cluttered.

They're called the Broncos first team...

The biggest tip you could do with now is parking, Headingley ain't brilliant for starters and leave yourself plenty of time before and after at either SL game. Wigan is a mare if you use the official car parks, it's one road, so Wigan fans may offer street parking advice.

Featherstone has a decent sized car park. No idea about any of the other championship teams.

Depending on how far North London you are, you can always come train at St Albans
