I have to say, I think this is a good idea. Supporting young players through a pathway that includes learning a trade to fall back on if they don't make the grade as a FT player can only be a good thing surely. Do any other clubs have schemes like this in place?

I think quite a lot of clubs have links with Sports Science departments at local unis / colleges, which usually means they get some sort of qualification in that, but I'd imagine a link-up with vehicle maintenance is pretty unique. Good idea though, clearly not all didn't-quite-make-the-grade youngsters are going to be cut out for a career as a personla trainer / sports teacher.
