Nonsense, and you might be one of Fev's worst critics but you are clearly a Fev supporter. Tonight the best team won, and the referee did not change that!
Well I think you are spot on. I thought it was a great game to watch and on balance Sheffield deserved the win.
I thought the ref made the odd bad call for both sides.

So you believe Powell actually believes Sheff are more discaplined than any super league or NRL team then !!!!
No he was so obviously being sarcastic but he was also the losing coach who had seen his team doing some poor things tonight.
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

can't argue with that frank, sheffield have a varied and inventive kicking game that we just can't handle. the effort by our forwards tonight was tremendous but we were outthought in all departments really. credit where it's due, we were'nt bad but sheffield were better.Well I think you are spot on. We missed Briggs tonight and having our stand off on the bench against a team like that is criminal IMO hope Smeaton is back soon and we can get Hardman back where he belongs before we play one of the top teams again Roll on next week

Spot on Ian but we missed Briggs tonight big time and bussey getting injured didn't help either. But why bussey as to play week in week out I will never know he as to be one of the most over rated players I've seen in a Fev shirt. He isn't good enough to get in our team yet especially at stand off. DPs tactics were all wrong tonight IMO and that cost us the game I reckon.Ive said it for two seasons now I think DP as took us as far as he can and when it comes to the crunch he hasn't got the tactical brain. Hope he proves me wrong come the end of the season when it matters. Before anyone jumps down my throat I'm not calling for his head etc as he's done/doing a fantastic job for us I just think when it becomes a tactical game he gets out thought especially by Aston who as had his number for quite a while now.
Sorry Gaz but that's cobblers. Bussey is a good player - with a lot more to come IMO. People can't say that that the ref didn't influence the game. It's not necessarily the decisions he makes, it's the ones he doesn't give that make all the difference. Sheffield were allowed to stand offside on a regular basis but I don't believe they were penalised once; we on the other hand were. As long as a team is allowed to be offside they inhibit the other team's ability to attack. Yes we made one or two bad mistakes bur we pretty well matched them and, often were the better team. You can't legislate for a player slipping or a ref who ignores what's going on. But for this we'd have won.

Agree with that, we dominated for long periods but the bounce of the ball went Sheffield's way for the most part. Hewer gave one penalty at the ptb all night which couldn't be right. Ian Smith also made a terrible blunder with his decision to penalise Kainy for pushing which led to a try, he was trying to get to the ball which he's entitled to do. Didn't get the rub of the green tonight but could and should have still won it near the end had Greg backed himself two yards from the line instead of trying to pass inside with a defender in the way. Thought the pack was awesome throughout.Sorry Gaz but that's cobblers. Bussey is a good player - with a lot more to come IMO. People can't say that that the ref didn't influence the game. Dave bussey isn't good enough yet and probably never will be good enough to play stand off for Fev. IMO he is one of the most over rated players I've seen in a Fev shirt. Hope he proves me wrong but IMO he's not good enough to get in our starting 17 at the moment.

Bussy is a back rower... not a 6!

And yet his game v dews was yhe diff between having one or two in the losses column this season.
Bussy is a back rower... not a 6!
I reckon Bussy has played well when I've seen him, though I can't comment on how he played last night as I haven't seen the game.
It does seem a little strange however to play him at 6 when we had a specialist 6 on the bench. Also seems strange that when he signed his last contract less than 12 months ago, Daryl said he saw him as a 13, yet I don't recall seeing him play there once.

As for last night's game, sounds like it was a good battle between two closely match teams, as most games between the two sides have been of late. Tubby seems to have our game planned sussed at the moment, so perhaps it's time for us to try something a little different in our tactical approach?
Please view and comment on my photos; I'm keen to learn and receive constructive criticism.

I'm not not knocking the lad robin as he's young and inexperienced I just think DP got the squad selection and tactics wrong last night like you say bussey isn't a 6 and I don't think he ever will be. We had probably our best playmaker sat on the bench while bussey played 6. I understand we have to try new things etc but surely not in a big game like last night was. I just think we have better players than the level bussey is at at the minute. I also feel we are playing too many players out of position and out of their comfort zones at the minute. Hopefully DP will prove me wrong when it really matters but I just feel when it becomes a tactical game he gets out thought especially against mr Aston who as had his number for quite a long time now.

Lack of completion. It took us 18 minutes in the second half to mount platform for our first attack only fir Bryan to lose the ball on the first. We were caught on the 6th tackle 4 times last night resulting in hand overs. Brambani and Walker's kicking game and link play was far smarter. Than our halves last night. When we did put decent kicks in to Toggagae their full back, we allowed him to run free yards in return and on one occasion tackled him in mid air which is a basic error in this day and age.
Rovers have had a fantastic away run in the league but like everything good it has to come to an end. On a bitterly cold night last night we were second best. But onwards and upwards, it's not the first time Tubby's got one over us and it probably won't be the last.

Mate, your post really confuse me. In one post you say that your not knocking Bussey, yet in another you say that he's the most overrated player to wear a Fev shirt, I'd hate to see it when you are knocking him. Then in another post you say it didn't help when Bussey went off injured. Isn't that when Kain went to stand off? The problems were obvious last night. Discipline. The Rovers pack tackled magnificently for 4-5 tackles then piggybacked Sheffield up field with penalties. Early on was fine example when Brambani kicked from deep in his own half on the last, only to be taken out late and then receiving the penalty where the ball alighted, deep in our half.

Andrew I just feel bussey as been dropped in at the deep end and IMO he's not good enough to play stand off. I also doubt whether he is good enough for our first team squad. That's not having a go at the lad as we have some cracking players at the club and it would be hard for any youngster to break into the team. I personally feel he's not quite ready for a first team position.

To be fair gaz, what you've just posted is a bit different to this...
