The draw for the third round of the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup will take place in Oxford tomorrow (Wednesday March 13) when 36 clubs enter two pools to determine the 18 ties that will be played over the weekend of April 6 and 7.

The clubs will be split into separate pools of 18, Pools A and B:
Pool A will comprise the 14 Kingstone Press Championship clubs plus four Championship One clubs;
Pool B features five Championship One clubs, French clubs Toulouse Olympique and Carcassonne and the 11 winning teams from last weekend’s second round ties.

Ahead of the main draw at 1.00pm, a preliminary draw will take place to randomly determine which Championship One clubs will be placed in Pool B.

TV actor Kevin Whately, who is better known to many as Inspector Lewis from the popular ITV series, will draw the clubs from Pool A while Bruce Ray, the Communications Director of tournament sponsors Carlsberg UK, will draw clubs from Pool B.

A third selection will be made during each pairing to determine which side will have home advantage - however French clubs Toulouse Olympique and Carcassonne will both play away to their third round opponents.

The draw will be the first in the competition’s history to be conducted live on the social media site Twitter. All 18 ties will be tweeted as the pairings are made from the Rugby Pavilion at Iffley Road, Oxford. To follow the draw simply follow @TheRFL on Twitter.

So are both the French teams and the amateurs guarateed to be away? If not then how do they determine which bag the home team is drawn from?

Jeez - it's clear enough. The amateurs can be at home (or - more realistically - at an adequate local venue), the French clubs can't.

Jeez, so if five C1 teams, the amateurs and the French are in one bag and the rest of the semi pros in another how do they work out who gets drawn out first? Sorry for being so thick Sir.

It took them thirty years to file the corners off.

Its a joke that the French clubs must play away. They probably will never get the chance to play a SL team at home which is what the game over there needs

That's the problem with RL, they either want the French teams in or they don't. If they do then they are in the hat with the same chances of being drawn, and allowed to play, at home as all the other teams. If not then why bother? It took them an eternity to give the amateur teams the chance to play at "home" too. They decided they wanted Gateshead in SL but then didn't want to give them any Sky money. They want Bradford in SL but on reduced Sky money.

If they win in this round, they could well play a SuperLeague team at home.

They used to have a loose rule about minimum ground standards for hosting an SL team. Do you know if it's still the case Gav?

I imagine so mate. Both teams should meet those standards anyway.

Any new moves to make SL teams play under the same rules as Championship clubs?
