Current pro boxer and former pro footballer Curtis Woodhouse tracked down an internet troll to his house after being ridiculed by him on the internet.

Well, quite frankly, I'm amazed at this story. How Woodhouse can be "Hailed a hero" is beyond me. Has he rescued a drowning child or pulled someone from a burning house?

No, he's very publicly put someone in fear of their safety and I can't for the life of me think why the Police aren't interested in his behaviour.

Woodhouse makes his living by performing to the public, some of whom will criticise him if his efforts are seen to be less than what may be expected by them. He should learn to live with that. Instead, he seems to have sought out a weaker opponent to the one who beat him in the fight that brought on the ridicule.

Not sure. I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't say anything on the internet that you wouldn't to someones face. I do and I use my name.

Likewise, he'll think twice before he does it again. Actions have consequences the troll almost suffered a consequence.

With you on that Frank . ;) , but there are always a few less respectful folk out there, should they be threatened with violence because of an opinion?

The troll should have taken him up on his offer of a grand.

Cheers Harry. :)

Well maybe not beaten up but then again, if you mouth it off, you should live with any consequences....especially something like tormenting a boxer.

Yes. I bet one of the #### bags who take the pee out of memorials on Facebook etc would argue they are entitled to be protected too.

I would argue that's a little different, anybody who does that is trying to get a reaction from folk who have just been bereaved, that really is the lowest of the low.

If you earn a living from your performances as a professional sportsperson, there will always be someone deriding you if your efforts are rather below par, though I agree, this can have unfortunate results as perhaps in the Brett Seymour scenario.

I agree they are slightly different and someone criticising a sportsman should not be automatically up for a beating but the tossers who deface peoples memories would cry the same defence.

Listened to him on the radio last night...and he's on TV this morning somewhere meeting this guy, who also posted abusive messages to a number of real celebs.

How can you defend a ###### who threatens someones family either in person or on the internet, Would you stand back while your family are being threatened ?

I'm sure I wouldn't and in the same situation I would do the same as Woodhouse and probably more.
Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.

Where have I defended such a person?

From what I've read, the troll took the mickey because Woodhouse lost a fight, implying he'd only win if he fought a ten year old.

In my opinion, threatening him because of that is ridiculous. Woodhouse is a professional sportsman and as such is in a very privileged position, he should be able to deal with stuff like that for what it is.

If the troll has gone on to make threats against his family then obviously that is very different, but I've not seen that reported anywhere.

Is that to me?

If so, all I'll say is, if anybody's willing to pay £1,000 for someone's address, then the inference is hardly that they're going to send them some flowers.

Sorry, but I just think Woodhouse has made himself look a bit daft and, from what I've read since, he seems to think so too.

I don't agree. I don't see any evidence of any threats of violence. Believe it or not, people including boxers are capable of confronting someone without feeling the need to resort to violence. He is a professional boxer, he isn't going to ruin his career, break the law and injure someone over a few tweets. Richard Bacon did a documentary about confronting his twitter trolls and one of the things he said was that he wanted to talk to them face to face as opposed to via a keyboard. I see no difference here.

It wasn't just a one off tweet, apparently he had been harassing the guy for several months.
