Players and fans are always consistent.

Players will always try to steal an advantage [if the ref is prepared to let them, and some are more 'prepared' than others; hence the inconsistency] and fans will always feel the ref is against them [whatever he does], how consistent do you want them to be?

Should you punish the team or the player ?

It's the punished player who has punished his team mates and if you replaced a punished player with a team mate wouldn't hit men creep back into the game and wouldn't the class players be targetted by their opposition.
Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.

Fair point. But the punishment varies depending on how far the incident is into the game.

And unconnected teams may be punished too - see scenario above.

I still haven't decided which side I'm on here. :wacko:
